University Siege League

Welcome Operators, to the Winter Split of the University Siege League! (USL). Battle it out against Universities across the UK to prove you have what it takes to be the best. We encourage students of all skill levels across the UK to get involved as it’s a really enjoyable experience that you can’t miss out on.

Unique to our league, we allow for rescheduling of regular week matches in the case that your team is down a player or two on game night. We also operate a 3+ majority team rule, meaning that teams can be formed of at least 3 or more players from one university. We have this rule in place because we are aware not every university has 5 players and we want as many people to get involved as possible. To understand more on this rule, read “How to register”.

How to register

Once you’ve registered an account on the NUEL and verified your student status, you can either create your own team, or join an existing one from your university

If you don’t have enough players for a full team at your university that’s fine!

Just sign up with as many players as you can from your university as a team, then when the signups close we will put together incomplete teams to form “majority teams” which consist of at least 3+ players from one university. This means everyone should hopefully get a chance to compete.

Teams will play in the 5-round Role Swap format, consisting of 5 rounds attack then swapping to 5 rounds of defence with the winning team being the first to win 6 rounds. If the score is 5-5 then a 3-round overtime begins to decide the winner.

The League will also feature the Operator/Map ban phase and 6th pick as seen in ESL with the following maps being in the pool:

  • Bank
  • Border
  • Club House
  • Consulate
  • Coastline
  • Oregon
  • Villa

Make sure you join the discord to keep updated on the league, there’s also a #league_rules text channel with detailed lobby settings and screenshots of how the game lobbies should be setup.

The tournament consists of six (6) weeks where one (1) Best of Three (Bo3) will be played each once a week in a swiss style format. The Top 4 teams from swiss (decided by OMWP) will move onto the semi-finals (1st vs 4th, 2nd vs 3rd) and play one (1) Best of Three (Bo3). The winners will then move onto the Best of Five (Bo5) finals.

Tournament nights are every Thursday 7pm. We allow rescheduling of swiss matches when required, provided the results are reported by 7pm Sunday, otherwise the team that required the reschedule will get a match loss for that week. Playoff matches cannot be rescheduled.
